Yes, she's in a casserole dish. :) This is our way of see just how much our little lady has grown. Exactly a week ago at her doctors visit she weighed 4 lbs and 9 ounces. Yesterday our casserole dish/food weigher contraption showed her weighing in at 5 lbs and 3 ounces!!! We're going to her 2 week check up right now and I'm excited to have that confirmed. She's obviously a great little eater!

Sweet Sadie enjoying one of her favorite past times....napping. It's amazing how time can slow down when you have a newborn in the house. I have found it hard to get anything done because I just want to hold her constantly and want her grow. She is such a blessing in our lives, I can't believe we ever lived without her!

I'm So Cute!

Finally Home!

Well, it's been several days since our last post, sorry about the cliffhanger! Sadie has proven to be a strong & healthy girl! After just one day on a Billy Bed & under a light she went down from 13.9 in her Billy count to 9.8, and then, after spending Saturday night with us in our room on just the Billy Bed, she went down to 8.8, which put her in the low <45% risk zone. The picture on the left is when Kathie was taking pictures of Sadie giving us her, "I really like my mommy milk" faces, isn't she cute?! Kathie & I are really enjoying our time together with our little blessing, even though we are both kind of exhausted most of the time. Sadie's favorite time to be awake, alert, & really cute is between 2am-5am; which has a prequel of about 15 minutes of fussiness leading up to the, "I'm hungry, get out of bed & feed me" cry, and followed by about an hour of Daddy rocking her & singing to her to try to get her to go back to sleep. During the day she is asleep for the most part, so we really have some major schedule shifts that need to occur! I was lucky enough to have 3 weeks of vacation this year, so I took 2 of them for after Sadie's arrival to help Kathie & to bond with our little one. So, things couldn't be better for us & our little family. We are so excited to watch her grow, & have already noticed a change in her from when we were at the hospital. We can't believe she already looks different! I am going to post a slideshow of some more cute pictures, which will link up to our entire album on photobucket.com, enjoy!

Sadie Jane Booth

Our Little Sadie

Hi everyone! This is Daric here, Kathie is getting some much needed rest. I jsut wanted to update everyone on our little girls status. She was born 4 weeks premature, so there were naturally some precautions which had to be taken before she can be given a clean bill of health. As far as her reflex, hearing, vision, strength, & blood sugar tests go, she couldn't be healthier. She has fully developed lungs, a great heart, her blood sugar is very good (last measurement was 72), she has good strong reflexes & grip, and we couldn't be happier!
The pediatrician came in this morning to follow-up with us on her newborn screening test & let us know she is measuring right on the line of high-risk to immediate attention required for Jondice. So, he gave us 2 options to choose from. First, and most preferred by him, Sadie stays for at least one additional night, being under a "Billy Light" the whole time except for 1 hour every 3-4 hours for mommy to feed her & to spend time with us. Second she can go home with us today when mommy is discharged, but we have to rent a "Billy Bed" from a HME company (like Lincare....) & we'd have to see a pediatrician on Monday for a follow-up appt. Obviously, we want what is best for Sadie & took option 1. This does pose a slight problem though because mommy & baby are considered 2 seperate patients. This means Kathie has been cleared for discharge & will be later today, around 1-2 pm, so we will either have to go home & travel back & forth for feedings, choose to let the hospital bottle feed her (something we are against doing), stay at Kathie's parent's house & make the feeding & bonding time trips every 3 hours, or we can do a "Hotel Stay" at the hospital. This allows us to keep the room we've been in, simply as guests though & it costs us $30 per night. We have chosen this option for now, hoping that a day under the Billy Light will improve things enough for Sadie to get a clean bill of health!
Anyway, that was long, but now you're updated. Sadie has lost a little bit of weight, she is down to 4 lbs 9 oz as of last nights weigh-in. We're hoping she can start to gain a little bit of weight beforfe we take her home, that is really the last hump we want to get over before we can really stop worrying! Thank you all for your love & suppoert, it means the world to Kathie & I! We will keep you informed with all the latest information! Love you all!
